Students Demand Return of Cisco Lectures to Abusi Campus

Students of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic (AAPOLY) have expressed dissatisfaction regarding the relocation of CISCO lectures to the main campus. Their concerns primarily have been about the cost of transportation, and the unavailability of necessary equipment during these lectures. 

Traditionally, Students at Abusi Edumare, the Annex Campus of the polytechnic have always been receiving these lectures on-site. The CISCO course forms a crucial part of the curriculum for National Diploma (ND) One students during their first semester.

UCJAAPOLY gathered that the CISCO lectures was moved to the main campus this semester to enable all National Diploma (ND) One students have access to the practical aspect of the course. However, findings revealed that despite this shift, practicals have yet to be organized since the semester began.

A student of Mass communication, Oshifade Damilare, who spoke to UCJAAPOLY said participating in the course at the main campus has been challenging for him and his colleagues.

“ The Cisco program at the main campus has had an impact on me and my classmates. We have been feeling overwhelmed with the program, especially because of the travel constraints and the lack of necessary equipment. It's been challenging for us to fully participate and engage in the program under these circumstances. We really wish that the Cisco program could be taught at Abusi to make it more accessible for everyone. It would make a big difference for us” he said.

Another student, Naomi Rita, said “The way it has affected me as a student is the issue of transportation fare and then getting to not hear what the lecturer is saying. However, a microphone was used the last time we went for the lecture, but it was not working”

This was also corroborated by a student of Business administration who doesn't want his name in print. He said “It has been affecting in terms of transportation fair and we find it difficult to hear the lecturer” 

However, the student union government has said students' complaints have been communicated with the management with the hope of a positive response.

The Student Union Public Relations Officer (PRO), Eridolapo Daniel, who spoke to UCJAAPOLY said “ We had met with the rector on this issue and we were told the relocation was basically because of practicals but trust me the student union government is working hard to talk with management concerning that issues which we are hoping for good response

“A big sound system should be provided for the student which our school management is working very hard to provide all the things a student needs to enjoy their stay on campus”.
