The Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic (AAPOLY) Public Relations Officer (PRO), Adeoye Saidat, has urged students to desist from dressing indecently, stressing that students who violate this would face the consequences.
According to page 78 of the Polytechnic student handbook, clothing that reveals sensitive body parts, including skirts or dresses above the knees, tight-fitting clothes including skirts, trousers, and blouses, clothes that reveal sensitive parts of the body such as the bust, chest, belly, shirt, and dresses with slits above the knees, outfits such as knickers, inappropriate outfits' such as Party wear and bathrooms slippers, T-shirts and Jeans, which carry obscene and subliminal messages such as foxy, sexy, kiss me, baby, love, cat, I like it hard, are all prohibited.
The section of the student's handbook also noted that “Indecent modes of dressing do not reflect the seriousness, dignity, and character molding nature of the academic environment. Moreover, they can result in rape, general low moral and academic sub-standards in the school.”
Adeoye mentioned that a memo was issued last session to address the issue of indecent dressing, and a similar memo will be published again.
“A memo was released to cushion the menace of indecent dressing last session. Up till the moment, the contents of the memo and the penalties for different forms of indecent dressing are still forms of reference to curb indecent dressing. It will be republished anytime soon to reiterate the consequences of indecent dressing.” she said
