Students of the Banking and Finance Department, Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, on Thursday, 7th, observed a Remembrance Day to honour the memory of the former Head of Department (HOD), Mr. Oloyede Isaiah who died on the 25th of November, 2022 after a brief illness.
The students who walked around the Main Campus of the institution were in their black clothing and held pictures of the late lecturer.
The President of the Association of Banking and Finance Students, Oluwatobiloba Kasali, who spoke to UCJAAPOLY explained that the remembrance was a tribute to the late lecturer whom he considered a father-figure and mentor. He emphasized that the remembrance walk carried a special significance, allowing students to honour the late lecturer’s legacy even after his passing on.
“If you notice you will see that we have students from the School of Science and even the newly admitted students from various departments. But mainly to the BFN students, it allows them to reflect on history, learn from the past, and pay tribute to the man who made a difference. Although some of them didn’t know him in person they still honored us and joined us to pay tribute to him and I’m proud of that.” he said.
Speaking further, Oluwatobiloba said he is motivated to carry on with Oloyede’s legacy, fulfilling the goals and visions that were important to him before his demise.
“His demise is a significant loss for me as the President and the entire association. I always feel sad and motivated to carry on the legacy and work towards fulfilling the goals and visions that were important to him when he was alive” he noted.
