Aapoly holds student Union inauguration, commissions new toilets

  The Rector, management staffs and the newly elected student Union executives



An Ogun state owned institution, Abraham Adesanya polytechnic (Aapoly) conducted her student Union inauguration today at the polytechnic main auditorium.

Recall that the institution elected new student union executives on the 31st of January in an open ballot system.

The Rector of the institution, Professor Bilesanmi Jumoke, in her speech welcomed all student and commended the outgoing president, Gbadamozi Azeez for being responsible, responsive and matured in their approach.

"It is indeed my pleasure to welcome you most warmly to this swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected officers of the Students' union Government (SUG), I feel highly delighted to usher in another set of Students' union leader's as the Rector of our great institution, Abraham Adesanya polytechnic"


"Really, the out-going officer's under the leadership of Gbadamozi Azeez have left a good legacy which is worthy of emulation. It should be noted that the Student Union Government under his watch was responsible, responsive, and matured in their approach. They embraced dialogue and shunned any form of violence, also his efforts towards sustaining peaceful cohabitation of students and members of the host communities cannot be over emphasized", she said

While speaking on the essence of student Unionism in the institution she said,


"Remarkably, I wish to reiterate that students unionism is not for celebration of crisis but rather it is an opportunity to represent the interest of the students populace to better their welfare both within and outside the polytechnic campuses through dialogue and consultation with appropriate authorities. In this wise, i implore all students to cooperate with them"

The outgoing student Union president, Gbadamozi Azeez during his outgoing speech pointed out his achievements and encouraged the new executives to make impacts in the institution and beyond.

 " Operation keep aapoly clean was launched, peace was sustained in the polytechnic and outside the school environment, Aapoly was represented in National Association of Nigerian students (Nan's), National Association of polytechnic students(Naps) and other occasions in ogun state in which I was tagged the most sturborn senator in Ogun state, we equally assisted less privileged students to pay part of their tuition fee, we built a standard relaxation centre and also organised a mega carnival to enhance the students social life"


"With these, I charge the student Union executives to make impact which will make their trail be evergreen. Students weferism and peace at all time should be your priority and also prayers to make the school known globally positively will be needed" ,he said

The newly elected president, Ajumobi Oluwatola, in his appreciation speech appreciated the Rector, Prof. Bilsanmi Awoderu, for allowing students to exercise their franchise and also allowing their votes to count.

"On behalf of the entire student of this great citadel of learning, i want to use this opportunity to appreciate the polytechnic management under the leadership of our ebullient and brilliant Rector, Prof. Bilsanmi Awoderu who allowed the students to exercise their franchise and allowing their votes count" he said

He also appreciated past leaders and students for their support before and after the election.

"I wish to commend the effort of all past leaders that have paddled the affairs of this great union,you will agree with me that the union has gone through turbulent periods owing to vested interest but these leaders did their best in establishing and maintaining our unity, peace and greatness"

" I want to really thank all students of this gigantic institution for their propitious, benevolent and altruistic support and I assure you that the leaders you chose are those who see leadership to register and indelible mark in the minds of Nigerian students and the Polytechnic community at large"


"We will make sure that your good expectations from our government won't be cut off, your general welfare won't be jettisoned and some obnoxious politics affecting you will be bridged" he said.

Speaking on this plans and vision for the polytechnic, he said

"My administration will maintain a peaceful, serene, docile, biddable, malleable and clean environment which will foster academic excellence and make Aapoly a treasured domain for our academic learning. With the support of the polytechnic management, I will allicient both Governmental and non-governmental organizations, investors and philanthropist, which will help alleviate, allay, ameliorate, mitigate and pacify the socio-economic suffering of my fellow students"

"My administration is visioned to set a system that listens to students views, a system that knows that efficient and cost-effective transportation, proper and early dissemination of information, availability of academic facilities, prompt release of results, abolishing of all forms of exploitation and deprivation of students right, a system that will create a formidable relationship between departmental associations, schools and student Unions"

"In addition, I will set a system that will inculcate proper values and orientation, strategic rebranding of our school through better treatment of students, involvement and organising of national programmes for youths development in and out of the school, a system that will create a panacea for students over the government commercialization of education, a system who knows the importance of students campus organizations like Muslim student society of Nigeria(MSSN), Christian union fellowship (CUF), Cadet Corps, Man'o'war and other organizations. A system will guarantee dividend of Unionism, a system that have financial transparency and accountability as its core value"


However, UCJAAPOLY gathered that the Rector, Prof. Bilsanmi Awoderu, after the student Union inauguration commissioned the newly constructed toilets in the institution.
